Hillgate, W8 7SR

  • 24 Hillgate Street
  • W8 7SR

A smallish corner pub on a quiet back street with tables outside, which are pleasant (and popular) on summer evenings.

Drinks

Strongbow is £2.50 a pint. They also have Bombardier and I think London Pride.

Food

Kake had the beef chilli nachos (£6.50) which were huge but the chilli was terribly salty. The guacamole was good. Earle had the spicy wedges with chilli dip for £1.99. They were tasty.

Service and Ambience

Got quite crowded by 9pm-ish (this was on a Thursday). A lot of the people there seemed to be regulars - mid-20s Notting Hill types for the most type. Not much ventilation; it got quite smoky and hot. Quite comfortable, especially when it wasn't too busy. Music was subdued and not annoying.

Lavatories

In the basement, after two flights of steps. Seemed clean enough.
