The Open Guide to London: the free London guide

Five Roads is a neighbourhood of West Ealing, London (comprising Hastings Road, Hartington Road, Broughton Road, Denmark Road, and Arden Road) whose residents became motivated to campaign for a traffic and parking management scheme. The area became one of the nine pilot Home Zone schemes established in 1999, and were unique amongst these for two reasons:

• FRF Home Zone area was the most highly trafficked area considered for treatment in the UK
• It was the only one driven by residents' demands rather than by local councils.

A formal association to campaign for what we want was established, and efforts culminated in the foraml launch of the Home Zone in April 2004. On the way to achieving our objectives, we have become a focus for events and issues within our area - street parties, sales, community action, sports and other goings-on! As part of our efforts we have a website with extensive links to other things going on in the Ealing area and a comprehensive directory of information sources on the concept of Home Zones.
