A Thai-Malaysian Restaurant in the arcade at the top of the stairs in Liverpool Street tube station.

Food

They offer a large selection of dishes of malaysian and thai food, as well as some mixes of the two - they have a similar feel to Wagamama and the like, but less of a fast food restaurant. They Divide the menu into "Big Bowls" and "Little Plates", basically mains and starters, and encourage people to mix and match. Portion size is good, and the food seems to be generally very tasty. The big bowls vary in price from 5.50->8.90, with most around 6.50, and the little plates are either 3.20, 3.50 or 4.20.

Some examples and prices [as of May 2003] are:

  • Thai Beef Noodles - Beef broth with beef brisket and beef balls, with thin and thick noodles. 6.50
  • Nasi Goreng (available in veggie version as well, with tofu instead of fish) - Fried rice with egg, prawns, squid and veggies. 6.20 (5.50 veggie)
  • Beef and Fragrant Basil - Stir fried beef with aubergine, green beans, basil and chili (served with rice and salad). 6.80
  • Little plate Garlic and Turmeric Hot chicken wings. 3.20
  • Little plate Steamed Crab and Prawn Siu Mai (Dim Sum crab and prawn dumplings). 3.50
  • Little plate Thai Fishcakes with pickle and crushed peanuts. 4.20

Drinks

They offer (in the vein of Wagamama) a variety of freshly squeezed juices and smoothies, as well as a good selection (for this type of restaurant) of wine and beer, with Budweiser on draught.

Atmosphere

The restaurant is very popular at lunchtimes, and they don't accept bookings unless you are bringing more than 20 people, so you can expect to queue for up to 30 minutes after about 12.30 - you have to wait outside, so a bring a coat if its cold. However, the place never feels crowded due to generous spacing between tables. There is an upstairs as well, accesible via a very thin spiral staircase.

It is non-smoking until after 5pm, at which point a smoking section is opened - but there is a good seperation made between the two.

The staff seem generally to be competent and friendly, and service is quick and efficient without feeling rushed.
