Cucina, SE1 2EL

Basic details

Italian food, wine and beer, delivered free for orders over 7.50 within the following postcodes: SE1, SE16, E1, EC1, EC2, EC3, EC4. All food is freshly prepared using genuine Italian products and fresh produce sourced from Borough Market.

The food seems aimed more towards sitting at the table with proper plates and cutlery than sitting in front of the TV eating out of the box. For example, you will need to explicitly ask if you want your pizza to come pre-sliced, and the salads will benefit from being removed from their packaging and tossed with their separately-packaged dressing, in a serving bowl.

A visitor from the company has promised 15% discount to all new customers who mention 'Grubstreet' (the original name of this site) when placing an order! Marna has confirmed that they gave her the discount on her first order.

Our reviews

We decided to try this place out last night, because I was feeling too lazy to cook. The pizzas were fantastic - lovely home-made bases (nice and thin and doughy and crispy and light all at once), fresh & unusual toppings (foie gras, truffle shavings), good cheese. They also do - although we didn't try them - a tasty-sounding selection of antipasta and salads.

It's a little more expensive than using one of the standard pizza places, and took a little longer to be delivered (50 minutes), but was most definitely worth it for the wonderful pizza. --Marna

Agreed, these are good pizzas. I had the Oceanica - tiger prawns (with their tails still on!), some gorgeously unrubbery squid, a very good tomato sauce. I was a little surprised by the dried oregano scattered over-liberally around the edge. At £12 for a 12" pizza, this isn't cheap, but it was absolutely plenty. --Kake

Note for vegans: they are very accommodating if you want pizza without cheese, & even offer an extra topping as a replacement without being asked. --Juliet [Prices as of September 2003]
