Franklin-Man of science and letters. The Benjamin Franklin House Annual Symposium uses Benjamin Franklin, one of history's most intriguing figures, as a point of departure for stimulating, contemporary conversation. Benjamin Franklin House located just steps from London's Trafalgar Square was opened to the public for the first time by the UK Foreign Secretary and US Ambassador on 17 January 2006- Franklin's 300th birthday. In this special year, the Annual Symposium will look at two of Franklin's great passions: science and letters. Join us for a stimulating evening featureing Lord Robert May on science, and Kate Muir and Jonathan Fenby on letters. Franklin's only surviving residence is now a dynamic educational facility. It features a Student Science Centre, the Robert H Smith Scholarship Centre, and a 'museum as theatre' Historical Experience which reveals the rich story of Franklin in London using live interpretation and cutting-edge sound, lighting and visual projection.
