Paul,

I only CC'ed you on this one. This was just in case it was a hardware or 
mountfs problem - which it could possibly be.
Nothing changes the perms on the files inside the application - it's all done 
through one Unix username anyway.

Also, there was some talk before xmas of my having shell access to grault.net 
as well.
